Königssee

An electric boat takes you across Lake Königssee through steep mountain walls to the famous pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä. Lake Königssee is nestled amidst the picturesque mountains of the Berchtesgaden Alps at the foot of the Watzmann. At first glance, the elongated lake looks like a fjord. However, the surrounding area is ideal for great hikes.

 

Almbachklamm

The family-friendly hiking trail leads over three kilometers on a well-secured path with bridges, stairs and tunnels through the impetuously falling water masses of the gorge. A great hiking experience for young and old.

 

Wimbachklamm

A popular excursion destination for hikers and walkers leads through the Wimbachklamm gorge in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden to the Wimbachschloß. Not only is the hike a geologically impressive sight and a wildly romantic natural monument, but the Wimbachschloß mountain restaurant is also a perfect place to stop for refreshments.

 

Die Schellenberger Eishöhle

A bizarre world of water, ice and rock opens up in the Schellenberg Ice Cave, Germany's largest ice cave above the rooftops of Marktschellenberg. 60,000 cubic meters of ice up to 30 meters thick invite you to take a fascinating walk underground. The easy but steep ascent from the village via the Toni-Lenz-Hütte to the entrance portal at an altitude of 1570 meters takes around three hours.

Das Kehlsteinhaus

Just a few meters away from the Obersalzberg Documentation is the departure point for the buses to the Eagle's Nest, the most striking remnant of the megalomaniacal National Socialist architecture in Berchtesgaden.
