Mountains in the national park

Watzmann

Omnipresent and imposing, the dominant mountain massif of the Watzmann towers over the Berchtesgaden valley basin. With its height of 2,712 meters and, above all, its extraordinary shape, it is known to almost everyone. Hikers and mountaineers will find tours of all levels of difficulty on the Watzmann massif, from easy hikes to high alpine mountain tours such as the Watzmann Crossing.

Jenner

You can enjoy a truly sensational view of the Berchtesgaden mountains and Lake Königsee from the new cabins of the Jennerbahn. And from the middle station at 1,200 meters or the mountain station at 1,800 meters, you can set off on various hikes in the Berchtesgaden Alpine National Park.

Untersberg

In addition to its reputation as the most legendary mountain in the Alps, the Untersberg with its two main peaks, the Berchtesgadener Hochthron (1972m) and the Salzburger Hochthron (1853m), is an inviting excursion destination for hikers and via ferrata fans. The Salzburger Hochthron can also be easily reached by cable car from St. Leonhard, not far from Marktschellenberg.

Schlafende Hexe

In the north-eastern part of the Lattengebirge, the three Rotofen towers form a silhouette reminiscent of a woman lying on her back. This is how the Rotofen got its nickname "Sleeping Witch". Here, too, nature once again shows its most beautiful side and offers numerous hiking opportunities around the Sleeping Witch.
